Who Should Attend

Any St. Luke student interested in learning or increasing their knowledge of chess.

Benefits

Chess study has shown to increase math skills, concentration, memory, and self-confidence.

Instructors

Chess4Life instructors follow the coaching methods that were developed by National Master Elliott Neff over the past 20 years. These methods have led multiple students and teams to both state and national titles.

Instructors also undergo comprehensive safety and classroom management training.

Material Covered

Classes are tailored to the level of competency exhibited among the students. Classes typically include: basic principles and strategy of how to open a chess game, how to conduct the middle game, and how to win (or avoid losing) in the endgame. Many other basic to advanced level tactics are also taught, including visualization techniques and tournament practice.

WHEN & WHERE

Chess Club is on Monday's after school from 3- 4:15 pm. Sessions run every trimester.  

Current session is Feb 4th - April 15th.  No class Feb 18th.
