Math enrichment

The math enrichment program at St. Luke School has three dimensions:

  1. Math Club(s) - availability varies from year to year depending on parent interest and volunteer resources.

  2. Math Competition Teams - these are done by grade bands and coached by volunteer parents.  Students meet one time a week in the mornings to practice their skills and prepare for competitions.  If you are interested in helping, please contact Charlotte Dimock,  cdimock@stlukeshoreline.org

The annual Shoreline Math Olympiad will be held at Shoreline Community College on the second Saturday in March starting at 8:30 a.m. and ending at approximately 3:00 p.m. This event is offered free of charge to all students in grades 4 through 8 attending Shoreline schools – whether public, private or homeschooled. Students will participate in teams of 4.

Students will take mental math and individual tests, as well as team problem-solving activities.

Students

summer math challenge

Most students lose 2-3 months of grade-level equivalency in mathematical skills over the summer months. Help your child to retain or gain ground over the summer months by encouraging their participation in the Summer Math Challenge. Successful completion of the Summer Challenge requires about 12.5 hours over the course of the summer. The best results will be obtained if the review is spread throughout the summer.

In order to participate, students must bring their completed and signed Summer Math Challenge Sheet to their teacher on the first day of school. Challenge Sheets are included in every summer packet as well as available online.
