Thursday Packet - Sept 13, 2018

Dear Families,

As we near the end of the first full week of school, there is a great deal for us to celebrate and reflect upon in regards to being a “caring community causing a positive change in the world!” I have witnessed students being good stewards of the environment as well as being welcoming to our thirty-seven new students. I have seen parents going out of their way to connect with both new families as well as veteran families. I have seen the start of programs such as Scouts, CYO, Extension and the Hot Lunch Program take off with great energy, filled with excitement for a new year. I have been moved by the very thoughtful prayers our staff and students share in the mornings as we gather as a school community. We are off to a very good start filled with hope.

This Thursday is the New Parent Reception, starting at 6:30PM. I am looking forward to seeing all our new parents and having our panel of “experts” share some of the St. Luke highlights that make our school great. Our middle school teachers, grades 6, 7, and 8 will be presenting information pertaining to communications, curriculum, and assessments also on Thursday beginning promptly at 7:30PM. Middle school parents should go to their child’s homeroom where they will receive their child’s schedule to follow for the evening. This will be a night filled with abundant information that will be helpful for a year of success in middle school!

Next week on Wednesday, September 19th, we will host our Back-To-School Night for all our families. We will begin promptly at 6:30PM in the auditorium. Please take a moment to check out the new handbook for parents, students, and volunteers located under the parent tab on the school’s webpage (Parent Resources). You will see some changes, particularly in the Policy of Respect. These changes definitely point to making things better for everyone.

Lastly, I am pleased to announce a “change for the better”; we will be having our school counselor on campus two days this year! Sarah Malchodi, our counselor, will be here on Fridays and possibly Wednesdays, along with a counselor intern. God bless you and here’s to an exhilarating 2018-19 School Year! Looking forward to creating many moments of “change that will make our already wonderful world, BETTER!”

Rick
